A Little Bit About the Character


Character Personality:

Lance on any normal occasion is an extremely polite and well behaved person. Being rude, or misbehaved on most of the time and matters is quite the extreme for him, and it is rarely done. Lance is not one to put down, or remark negatively on anyone. This of course, is out loud and in appearance. If Lance finds something that would be rude to say, or wrong to say of said person he will keep it to himself. Although he will enjoy a good chuckle about his comments. A slight slim and lite smile stands on his lips. Toothless and warm the smile welcomes brightly. When it comes to friends, comrades and most of all family Lance holds the deepest respect and love for them. If harm or threats of harm should come in the way of his family or beliefs Lance would do anything to void it.

Laws. The word does mean something to Lance, but not in the sense of normality. While Lance does follow rules and laws of his land and word there are times in which Lance merely shrugs off the rules. This is due to the fact he does not engorge himself into the laws and rules of society. Lance does however follow his own set of rules and guides. Religion, family and friends. Shortly followed by rank and power. These things are strong in his eyes and he will do whatever it takes to uphold those. While things may seem perky and dandy for Lance, it really isnt in all aspects. While he does have a good life in terms of society and social Lance does suffer from a sadness of deep. At times this sadness hits him and it can happen at any moment. Due to the fact that his father is dead, and he doesn’t know his real mother makes it extremely hard to bare. Of course his foster mother is a saint in his eyes, and she is a real mother in all forms and shapes. But the thought of not knowing his true mother and being separated from his father is hard.

During battle Lance doesn’t alter his attitude much. His polite and charming attitude does keep, but it can flare at points and be replaced with anger or bitter feelings. Of course fear, stress and all the emotions that ride on life and battle follow shortly. To sum it up, in many ways Lance is just a normal person. Curiosity of past life, love of the current and aspiration of the future. Feelings o fLance.

Lance is an extremely vibrant character. Easily six feet high, this man sports rather broad shoulders and a percussive stance. Tanned white skin covers his body, stretching over lean build arms and legs which extend lengthly from his torso. Contrary to what he may appear as, in regards to clothing and stance, Lance sports a rather firm muscle mass and build. The clothes he wears and positions he takes do not accent the muscles along his body however if one should look closely they would be surprised to see them. The most unique aspect of Lance is his hair. Golden yellow in color and savagely wavy. Lance is extremely vain about his hair, taking its existence importantly. Washing it at least three times a day and keeping its sleek shine and luster. Light blue eyes gaze from dark eyebrows, and narrow face. In terms of clothing, Lance sports simple black suit pants cover his legs, ending in shiny shoes of the same color. Lance sports a snow white shirt complete an always un-tucked and upturned collar. The shirt is never tucked into his pants, and the top button of the shirt is usually never clasped. The sleeves are usually pulled back and curled. Across this shirt if a very formal suit vest. In all essence, the best description of Lance would be casual formal wear.


Character Traits: One unique trait about Lance is that he always sports two particular objects in his hand. The first, is a cigarette which is always usually smoking from the tip. The second, and even more common than the first are signature purple tinted sunglasses that cover his eyes. If at any time these would be off, it is a signal that something is horribly wrong.

Lancelot "Lance" Volcom was born on a remote island in the middle of the East Blue. This makeshift floating land was a horrible little place. Once it had been a lavish mountainous area, complete with several resorts for tourists and at one time held a Marine Base. However over time, the leaders of the small island began to become corrupt. Eventually, the governing body fell and the precedence of rule fell to the Marines. During this time, as the residents likes to call "The Fall", Lancelot Volcom was born. The true aspects of his birth are quite unknown, some say that his father was a Marine who had worked on the Island base. Some speak of his father as being a pirate, who had been captured by the Marines and whom had met his mother. Regardless of all the rumors which surfaced, Lancelot's origin was never proved. As for the child's mother, several months after giving birth to him she brought another into the world. This time, a daughter. Being raised around the reputation of a rather "open" mother was one to be embarrassed of. However Lance-- and sister Angelina, pushed forward.

The majority of his childhood revolved around the uprising of his sister. Lance's ongoing years were the same. Raising his sister, living on their own. Their mother had gone once more, off to some island of distant means. However the two children did not care. Their only goal was on survival. As the years passed, Lance began to grow. No longer was he the small child of old, now he was in his early teen years. And in this change his wishful adventure addiction surfaced. Around this time, the Island had hit lower ground than ever before. The Marine base had been destroyed, Piracy was more common than ever, and the denizens of the island had left or went into their sheltered lives. One such day, a large Marine vessel approached the island. After surveying the remains of the base, and deciding the place was no longer needed, the Marines began to leave. It was at this moment that Lance decided. To find a life which would be better for his sister and himself, they would need to leave with the Marines. After sneaking aboard the ship, the two traveled aimless days. In the shadows they hid, awaiting a time to leave.

While aboard an even occurred, one which would change everything. The Marine vessel met in combat with that of a Pirate ship. The fight lasted but minutes, resulting in the pirates taking the marine ship. Hours later, the crew had been tired up on the main deck. After searching the ship, the pirates stumbled across Lance and Angelina. Overjoyed at the aspect of finding a women aboard, the Pirates bound Angelina and took her to their ship. Outraged, Lance fought back, only to find himself tied up with the crew. As he watched the pirates sail away, his sister sail away, the teen vowed to get his sister back. However as fate had it, this did not come true. Tied, with the mast broken and the sails slashed, the crew had no way to survive the storm that came. The storm raged across the ship, destroying the crew and the vessel. Several hours Lance found himself washed ashore an island. After some exploration he found a small camp site. It had long been since abandoned, and in quite a hurry as well. The remaining items suggested that pirates had once held camp here however something made them leave. While looking for food and assorted items, Lance stumbled across an odd looking fruit in a small chest. Ravaged by hunger, he ate the mysterious fruit.

Several days later, after Lance had discovered his new found ability, under the realization that his powers came from the fruit in which he ate, there stirred movement on the deserted island. A small shack on the eastern coast, which to this point had been hidden, came into view. After exploration, Lance came across the living quarters of an extremely skinny looking man. Dog black hair curled down his face, his toothless grin wide. The man called himself Castle. Over time the two castaways began to get close. Due to their predicament the two began close companions on the island. Months passed. During this time, Castle slowly revealed his own past at the same time as becoming a teacher to the teen. Castle had once been a Marine, specifically, the Headmaster at a Marine Naval Building academy. At such a place, Castle had taught countless students the art of ship building. During their time together, Castle began to teach Lance the first of two teachings. The art of shipbuilding. In addition, Castle had not become a Marine for only his building skills. He had been taught close quarters combat, and along side the teachings of ship building, Lance began to learn how to fight.

For the next two years, the two began closer. While at the same time, the student became the master. Together the two worked on a single project: build a vessel to leave. The waters around them were hostile and only a well built ship would ever promise to leave the islands grasp. Another year passed, Lance was now a man. The project grew. Eventually, the two finished. However as the ship set sail from the island Castle took his last breath. Dying of age with a smile on his face and a warm feeling in his heart. The next few years of his life, Lance continued to follow the vow he had promised years ago. To find his sister. From departing the island, Lance searched for those would be willing to help. Pirates were the only way to go. They had taken his sister, and each were bound to no rules. If he wished to find his sister, then it would have to be piracy as the route to take.

It was amidst this endless searching for a suitable crew, his sister still on the horizon, that Lance met his first real friend since Castle. Their meeting had been complete accident, and it was plausible that fate had deemed it to occur. A man by Jordan Raines was this such friend. Lance had been searching for a crew, and eventually found one. During this time he came across a scene that would forever change his life. Betrayed and abandoned by his crew, Jordan Raines was cast into the sea. While crossing in that moment Lance came across the sinking figure. After some extensive moves and rather difficult actions he managed to pull the man from the water. Being careful- all the same, from falling in himself. Outraged at the aspect of being turned on by comrades, and feeling a sense of protection over the man, Lance accompanied Jordan to the location of his former crew. A short battle sealed the friendship in which fate had created. Since then, as time flows presently, the two are still bound. Their goals identical, their thoughts similar.

The flesh of the Kumo Kumo no Mi is a dark gray. Each bristle is either a striking yellow or a pure white color. The fruit is roughly the size of two fists combined. At each end, a bristle that is twice as long as normal protrudes. These bristles are a mixture of all three colors.

How your character came to possess the fruit: Several years ago, when Lance Volcom was just a child, his mother, father and sister took a small voyage to a nearby island where, there, their father would meet with the envoy from the standing kingdom and discuss certain political matters. On the way to said island there was a terrible storm. When the storm cleared, Lance and his sister were floating amidst the oceans waves with the boat-- and their parents-- gone. Several hours later the siblings found themselves washed ashore an island. After some exploration the twins found a small camp site. It had long been since abandoned, and in quite a hurry as well. The remaining items suggested that pirates had once held camp here however something made them leave. While looking for food and assorted items, Lance stumbled across an odd looking fruit in a small chest. When his sister arrived, she declined the offer to eat it on terms that it looked like poison. Lance did not feel the same and ate the mysterious fruit.

Ability Description: Once consumed, the user gains the ability to become a Cloud man. Kumo Kumo no Mi gives the user the ability to generate and fully manipulate clouds. The user is able to produce these clouds in several different forms and strengths. When this ability is activated, the user can choose however they wish to generate clouds (Such as, in lengths or coils, bulbous "puffs" or anything of the sort as well as decide on the types and colors of said clouds) in addition to having control over their movement and position.

Ash Haze - From the user, dark black ash is produced. Upon command the ash will spread out and act as an extremely thick haze. Vision in the haze is near impossible, even for the user.

Ash Creation - Manipulation of the ash created. The user can create objects from the ash, compacting the ash to form objects. This ability is usually used in combination with Density Ash.

Density Ash - The user is able to control the density of the ash, increasing it to make it extremely strong (mass increase) or make it extremely weak.

Combustible Ash - A specific type of ash is produced. This type is extremely combustible, any contact with a spark or some sort of flame will cause it to create a rather large explosion.

Dense Haze - The user creates an extremely dense ash that when breathed in will essentially cause the inability to get sufficient amount of oxygen to the opponents lungs. Being an Ash man, the user is immune to the effects of this.

Weakness: Standard Devil Fruit Weaknesses' apply. All ash produced by the user is extremely subjective to liquid. Should ash come into contact with liquid, it will not dissolve, however it will turn into a thick mud-like substance (which is out of the users control).
